    • I was talking to a woman yesterday and she told me already people are going hungry in Lecce as they suddenly have no money coming in, I have watched peoples lives improve here suddenly its all gone, a man in my road was sent to prison for selling cannabis years ago when he was young ,getting a job was hard, he has had jobs and not been paid in the past, he recently got a job which involved driving to Brindisi every day and had money coming in, this is now gone, the lockdown is a disaster, yesterday Tony Blair was on Sky news every 5 minutes saying how this should be handled, we are supposed to believe he cares about a few thousand deaths, the average person is only 2 or 3 wages from starving , lots of famous people have the virus allegedly and are doing well, is it true?, someone said that most people do not know anyone with the virus or even someone that knows someone and yet famous people have it, if the lockdown goes on for months what is going to happen, its crazy , there have been two break ins where people were in the house where I live and there are several properties that the doors have been forced open near me, yesterday people were walking around in the streets in masks, get people back to work
    • I struggle with people called Nicholas, I have to bite  my lip to not say nickleass, I still think of Arthur Haynes
    • While I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver  Nicholas Parsons autobiography ....... ......... I have dug out my Bill Bryson books and am enjoying re-reading The Lost Continent for the third time, last read about 6 or 7 years ago. Just as funny and informative as the first time I read it.  Books should be just like art, music or tv programmes, I happily watch repeats on tv, play my music over and over again and admire the pictures on my wall frequently.   The choice of Nicholas Parsons book was brought about by my purchase of 18 CD's on ebay of  BBC radio 4 programme "Just a Minute" - I would recommend these to anyone that needs cheering up during this  unfortunate period.
    • Its obvious that everyone staying at home is impossible for a long time, it all comes down to money,I said from day one its tough but people are going to die, apparently overweight smokers do worst, but we have known that for years, you can see that Boris is not keen on what he is doing why? because its impossible, if the government is going to pay people to stay at home where is the money coming from, some people are saying it will cause a depression that will last years , people ridicule Donald Trump but he is right about everything, we are relying on drugs from China for a start, I used to say to Americans 30 years ago you have everything you need you do not need the rest of the world for anything, they are suddenly wising up , the North of Italy is a disaster it needs a shake up and tough policing I remember the Luis Viuton shop in Verona with people selling fake bags outside the police do not  care, I read 350,000 Chinese live in the North apparently go in back and forth at will, countries need borders, some will say I am a hypocrite living here but I spend money I made in England and do not want to breed Italians out of existence , get people back to work, survival of the fittest which is what nature always intended, in the UK medical workers are off work as its too much stress , sack them, they are asking for volunteers to help the NHS, do not hold your breath, bring out your dead
    • Fingers crossed that there may just be a glimmer of hope in italy now after deaths and recorded infections have fallen each day over the last 3 days. I fear that the UK and USA have not done enough to avoid a scenario worse than anything Italy has experienced. The behaviour of a substantial minority in England  has been deplorable, glad I am not there now!
